We had 23 adults and 13 children in attendance last year. We had a great time at the lake, we played bingo, Wanda gave us special gifts, Marvin made t-shirts, and above all we enjoyed being together once again. It had been a long time since we had a family gathering. Thank you Wanda for working so hard getting the reunion planned. We did miss all of you who didn't make it, and we are hoping you will make an effort to attend this year. For more information and photos to refresh your memory, go to the beginning of this blog.

Check in time is 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29.

Check out time is 1:00 on Sunday, August 1.

All rentals have a kitchen with a stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, dishes, cooking utensils, and are approximately a 1 to 5 minute walk from the lake.

In addition all properties have, AC and heat, linens, shower or bath combo, color tv w/satellite dish, and remember all cabins are non smoking facilities.

Bring your boats, fishing gear, beach toys, bathing suits, beach towels, fishing gear, and what ever else you can't live without for 3 days.

There will be a pot luck on Thursday night in Wanda's cabin. Watch this blog/or your email for more information on this. Amy is in charge of the food and with Wanda's help, she is making plans for our meals. There will be 2 meals planned for Friday and Saturday. The brunch will be served later in the morning to give late sleepers and fishing people time to get there. :o) If you need coffee and/or a bite to eat before then, please stock your cabin with those items.

We will tear the fishing trophy away from Medrith, who has had it since the 1980's (I think) and put it back up for grabs. Whoever catches the biggest fish (by weight) wins the trophy. There will be a cash pot and it will go to the winner also. The money (amount to be agreed on when we all get there) must be paid before you go on the lake.... Wanda has rented a boat on Saturday and Danny, Stephen, and Chris have a boat. I know for sure 3 of the 4 boats will be out on the lake e-a-r-l-y..... and I am guessing Chris will join them. :o)

An Auction is planned, so don't forget to round up a few items for this. If you would like to have an item, bring it. Your choice. All items accepted and hopefully all items will be bid on. The money from the auction will go to whatever the group wants it to. Maybe Sunday lunch?

Put on your smiling faces and get your stuff together and plan to meet the family there.

I just wanted to share with all of you I GOT THE JOB!!! I applied for a new position still with the same school system and I found out Wednesday I GOT THE JOB! I will be the new Beginning Teacher Support Coordinator for Cumberland County Schools. I will meet with my new supervisor on Tuesday, July 6th to find out more information. I know this is the "other side" of my family, but thought I would share some pictures of our SURVIVOR/Isbell Reunion.
They found their t-shirts, made a shelter, made FIRE, ate "yucky" stuff, answered a Reunion Quiz, passed the Endurance test (stood on 1 foot for 10 seconds and tug of war), had a Monsoon toss, and went to Tribal Council where they won awards. They all found Immunity Necklaces to avoid being VOTED OUT! After all, you can't get voted out of a FAMILY SURVIVOR!!!! They did all this for prizes and fun! ~diane~

I know I am way behind on this blog, but I am very busy getting ready for the Isbell Reunion. Our Adventure Day is "Survivor" and I have made t-shirts for 13 kids, plus 3 team shirts for Amanda, and another one for Kyndal and 2 aprons. When I say made, I mean I have put Embroidery on them. It takes a long time and it can be all consuming of me... I will try to get caught up when I get back starting with Easter.... I have lots to add to this blog, but just can't seem to get it together. As most of you know, I went to my 40th class reunion Easter weekend. Tipton Home had copies of pictures all over the dining room. Anita Davis told me to take what I wanted. I wanted this one and found several others of our family that I took. More later.... ~diane~

Change of heart....

For the past month they have been asking for someone to take the AIM kids last Saturday night, give them a bed and feed them breakfast on Sunday morning. We also took food on Saturday night and for Sunday lunch. My husband, Danny, being the nice guy he is, thought that would be so wonderful. Me, Diane, being the grouch, that I am, thought that would NOT be so wonderful. Danny said he would help me and all would be well. I finally told him - IF he would help clean the house, and IF he would cook them breakfast, we would do it. I told him we would take boys and he could be the responsible one. We got up Saturday and he was ready to go. He did help clean (even though I did have it mostly done).... We went to the store and bought the food and I cooked it. Okay he isn't too into that - except he did do the breakfast.... It did turn out to be a wonderful experience. Oh, I forgot to mention Danny volunteered to take S-I-X boys!!!!!! SIX!!!!! The six boys were very nice, kind, and polite. They sat in the living room for quite some time and visited with us and it was nice to hear about their experiences. They all got up on Sunday morning and were off to church on time. A couple that live one house over from us, took six girls. We decided on Sunday that we should have had a block party. Will I do it again - YES and I might even make the breakfast... :o)

Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:3 We did make it to church Sunday morning. Kyndal and Bethany's lesson was about Mary anointing Jesus feet. We all were given a chance to have our feet anointed. (We did have to draw the line at wiping it off with their hair)! I don't know what the teacher gave them in their little tin as the "nard", but it too filled our house with the fragrance of perfume.

....and then the snow came....

The girls had planned to go home on Saturday, but when we got at least 6 inches of snow and traveling was "discouraged" they decided to stay until the weather cleared.

We are at the zoo, waiting for Amy and Amanda to bring us lunch. Kyndal is walking around the railroad ties that lined the picnic tables. Megan thinks that looks like fun, so she walked around the other way. They MET and the STAND OFF began.

THE REST OF THE STORY..... Guess who gave in and stepped off of the railroad tie??? Megan played the "big girl" card and stepped off. Kyndal smiled and thought she had won. Megan gave in, but there were tears. Grandmom hugged her and told her she did the right thing. Ahhh, the joys of little girls! If they only knew how short lived the cousin fights are!!! ~diane~

Danny's birthday is April 5 (63 years old!!!!), but once again no one will be home on that day!!! Diane will be gone (40th class reunion) and Danny will be in Houston on a business trip... We celebrated while the girls were here. He got presents, a camo shirt and pants and seeds to plant jalapeno peppers and a phone call from Stephen! What more could a Grandpa/Dad ask for? No birthday cake for Danny, he prefers STEAK!!!

We decided to have an Easter Egg Hunt since Grandmom Diane is going to be out of town for Easter weekend.... No one understands how she is chosing to go to her 40th High School Reunion over Easter Egg hunting with the grandkids. There will just be a bunch of OLD people there.... Anyway, BEFORE the Early Easter Egg Hunt, we had to wait for Grandpa to get home from work..... We climbed trees (Rylan, Megan, Kyndal, and Bethany).....

They have the most available lodging for this weekend. You can go online to make your reservations or you can call them. Their website is www.littleglasses.com and their phone number is 580-795-2068. They are not holding any lodging so you should make reservations soon. There is no guarantee of availability. My suggestion is to make your reservation now whether or not you know for sure you will be able to make that weekend. There is a two week cancellation allowed and you can cancel. The cabins rent for $80 a night to sleep 2 and up to $165 a night that sleeps 8-10. There are others that sleep 6-8. You can go on the website and take a look at the different options.

His team, the Cougars, went 10-0 in regular season play and 3-0 in tournament play. Rylan had a great time with a great group of boys. He is looking forward to playing baseball with them soon.

Heart Disease

I just wanted to let everyone know that Medrith had a little heart scare and had some heart tests ran and they came back G-R-E-A-T!!!! No heart disease and for that we all need to be thankful!!! Heart disease is not easy to live with and it is even harder to do what you know you should do to deal with it. It is very costly to have all the tests ran and pay for the medication. I am so very happy that Medrith doesn't have to do any of that. She is a wonderful sister-in-law, wife, Mom, Grandma, and all the other titles she has, and we want to keep her!!! We are thrilled she doesn't have to go on the "Heart" journey!!! Just a little reminder that we all need to take care of ourselves! I pray that no more of my family has to deal with heart disease.... IT is NO FUN!!!!

BTW- Danny and I both are doing well right now. I think my doctor and I have found my problem. I am keeping my BP at a low normal and have felt better than I have in a long long time. It seems to be working for now. Danny seems to always be fine???? We are both working on the weight and I am even trying to walk every day. Now if I can just get him to. :o)

Our little Megan is 8!

I am late with this post. Megan's birthday was Wednesday, January 27th. BUT since she has decided she is not really 8 until she has her party (6:00 this evening at Chuck E. Cheese's), we will just say Grandmom is right on time! Our Megan is a sweet sweet girl. She is usually quiet and so loving. Sometimes she can be a little prankster (like when she hid her Mommy's keys under the desk. Mommy (Amanda) hunted all day for them (while Megan was in school). Megan thought she was so funny. Mommy didn't laugh (but Grandmom did!!! :o) It really is hard to wrap my mind around her being 8 years old! Seems such a short time ago that we prayed for her first few days of life to get better. Thank you God for answering those prayers with a big YES! She is such a special little girl!!!

Justin Made IT!!

He made it! He Made It! HE MADE IT! Justin has qualified to join the U. S. Air Force. He is in the delayed entry program. As long as he stays healthy and keeps his weight under 175 lbs he is good to go. He weights 142 now so I don't think he needs to worry. He is just a smiling! He is excited and so are James and myself. Yeah! He has a plan! Don't know exactly the job he will have yet. He still needs to graduate and turn 18 first. Just happy to know he qualified!!!!! He even lifted the 110 lbs above his head!!!! Yippee!!!!!!
